Safety, Assumption of Risk, and Disclaimers

Hunting is dangerous. Here is how to stay safe, and what our tools do and don't promise.

Tree stand safety

Most serious hunting injuries are falls from tree stands. Wear a full-body harness and stay connected from the ground up with a lifeline or lineman's rope. Keep three points of contact while climbing. Use a haul line for gear and never climb with a loaded firearm or nocked arrow. Inspect straps, chains, and steps every time. Tell someone where you are and when you'll be back.

Firearm and archery safety

Treat every firearm as loaded, control your muzzle, be sure of your target and what is beyond it, and keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot. Wear blaze orange as your state requires, and more when other hunters may be near.

Weather, terrain, and health

Dress for the coldest hour of the sit, carry a light, water, and a charged phone, and know the route out. Watch for ice, high water, and ticks. Follow your state's guidance for chronic wasting disease testing and carcass transport.

Emergencies

Call 911 first. Then tell the host and safety@standhopper.com. Your trip page shows the property's location and parking point for responders.

Assumption of risk

By booking or hosting on StandHopper you accept that hunting involves serious risks that cannot be eliminated, including injury and death, and you assume those risks for yourself and your party as described in the Terms of Service and the release you sign at booking.

What our tools do not promise

Activity scores, best-sit suggestions, rut phases, legal-light times, and weather come from models and third-party data. They are estimates. They are not legal shooting hours and do not guarantee that you will see or harvest game.

Property lines and acreage are approximate and are not a survey. Price suggestions for hosts are estimates, not appraisals or guarantees of income.

Right-to-list review lowers risk but cannot guarantee every host's rights. Report anything that doesn't look right.
